Day 1: Ascent to Lagoon
Chicabal Volcano and Lagoon from Xela
our guide will pick you up at 8:00 a.m. directly from your hotel in Quetzaltenango. From there, we will travel by private transport toward Chicabal Volcano on a journey of approximately one hour and 15 minutes.Upon arrival, we’ll begin a gentle hike of about one hour that will take you through an impressive cloud forest to the volcano’s crater. Inside, the mystical Chicabal Lagoon awaits you, a sacred place of serene waters surrounded by ceremonial altars.
We’ll have time to explore the area and appreciate the altars used by the local Mayan community. This place is a center for ancestral rituals and ceremonies, offering a unique opportunity to understand their deep spiritual connection to the land.
